CharlieMcKeith-Male-Clinical-Psychologist-Canberra

Hi, my name is Charlie and I’m a clinical psychologist based in Canberra.

Navigating life’s hurdles and stepping up performance can be a real challenge, but it’s much easier when working together as a team. I like to provide a calm, non-judgmental environment and have found the best results are achieved when people take an active role and feel part of the process. From there, it’s a matter of learning the skills that get people back to doing what matters to them, and beyond.

I have an interest in, and I am experienced in, working with individuals dealing with various difficulties including anxiety, work-related stress, career transitions, life adjustments and low mood. And, like Guy, I am passionate about sport and have an interest in helping individuals get the most out of their performances.

I’m experienced in delivering a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, but particularly like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). I always aim to tailor the approach to the individual and their specific circumstances and remain flexible to client needs employing a collaborative and person-centred approach. In doing so, I hope to create a space to promote reflection and understanding.

I have worked in a range of different settings and with a mix of people and ages, including in university clinics and specialised problem gambling services. More recently I have been working at The Canberra Hospital in inpatient and outpatient medical care providing assistance for patients and their families managing a range of challenging physical injuries or illnesses by supporting their adjustment and promoting their rehabilitation and recovery. At Resonate I work with adults wanting some help in managing common mental health challenges like feelings of anxiety, stress or low mood and those wanting to improve their sport and performance*.

When I’m not at work I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, playing sport, bushwalking, listening to music, watching movies and travelling.

If you think we would be a good fit, I'd love to work together, feel free to reach out.

*Please note, I do not provide psychological assessments or medico-legal reports for the purposes of insurance matters or legal issues.  I am also unable to work with previous clients I have worked with in community health services. I currently work with people aged 18 and over.
